An exploration into the fantastic, revolutionary world of Black Nerd Culture in America.

"Blerd Nation" is a docu-series that shines a spotlight on Black and Brown enthusiasts of comics, video games, tabletop role-playing games, anime, and various other pop, geek, or nerd media. The surge in popularity of these passions is indisputable, yet it is disheartening to acknowledge that the struggle for inclusion remains a poignant and unresolved issue, particularly for fans of color. Despite exclusionary rhetoric and criticism from white fans, there are Black nerd “spacemakers” who are authoring spaces of expression for themselves and others. Our project reflects the changing face of inclusion and representation in nerd fandom.
