10 Rings: The Sam Jones Documentary

10 RINGS tells the untold story of Celtics legend Sam Jones, who quietly battled racism and segregation to win 10 NBA titles and shape basketball history. Through rare footage and powerful moments, the film reveals the impact of his quiet leadership on and off the court.
The documentary 10 RINGS chronicles the extraordinary yet largely unknown life and career of Boston Celtics legend Sam Jones. Known as the original “Mr. Clutch”, Sam won 10 NBA championships, the 2nd most in NBA history and all with the Boston Celtics. His teammate and life-long close friend Bill Russell had 11. Despite growing up in the segregated south, being drafted when the NBA allowed only two black players on a team, and overcoming the intense struggles of racism and bigotry during the civil rights era, Sam became a legend with one of the greatest dynasties in professional sports history, the Boston Celtics. Without interviews, archival footage and photos the documentary will share compelling stories and historical events Sam experienced. Events such as Sam boycotting a game in Kentucky because he was refused service at a hotel diner, or playing in a game with the first All-Black Starting Five in NBA history. The documentary will also explore challenges Sam and his wife Gladys endured as an interracial couple during the 1950s & 1960s. Showing the effectiveness of Sam’s quiet leadership and understated elegance, the documentary will show he consistently demonstrated his deep commitment to those around him, not just as a professional athlete, but also as a devoted husband, caring father, loyal friend, and dedicated mentor.
