Tuscarora Nation
Tuscarora Nation explores the powerful, often overlooked history of the Indigenous Tuscarora people of eastern North Carolina—from their early resistance to Euro-Colonial forces to their ongoing fight for federal recognition and sovereignty in the modern era.
Tuscarora Nation is a cinematic portrait of the Indigenous Tuscarora people of eastern North Carolina. Once a formidable force resisting colonization in the 18th century, the Tuscarora endured displacement, erasure, and systemic neglect. Today, they continue to fight for what has long been denied: recognition as a sovereign nation. Through firsthand accounts, historical records, and a lens grounded in cultural pride, the film traces their enduring legacy and present-day resilience. This is not just a story of survival, but a call for justice and visibility in a nation still reckoning with its colonial past.
