Alamance County, 2020
Set in a small North Carolina community, Alamance County, 2020 captures a single year when the ground shifted beneath everyone’s feet. As the pandemic shutters schools and storefronts, the rhythms of daily life collapse into stillness, until the summer brings simmering tensions to a boil and gives way to protest, confrontation, and the echo of history around a Confederate monument in the town square. Through the eyes of dozens of residents, the film traces how national crises manifest and collide on local ground. Intimate and panoramic in equal measure, it reveals the fragility and resilience of one American county navigating a year that changed us all.
