\"This is not a documentary about slavery. It is a documentary about what rises from it — what four families built, in one county, across two centuries, without recognition, without rest, and without record.\"

TABBY: FOR LIFE® begins with Nelson Burton, an enslaved craftsman recorded as Property #36 in an 1822 plantation ledger at Gamble Plantation in Ellenton, Florida — one of the only standing antebellum homes in Florida, now a designated State Park. The series follows the families’ matrilineal throughline across six generations: Mariah Burton Washington → Malissia Burton Adams → Brilla Burton Braswell → Bessie Adams Williams → Minnie L. Rogers → and Frances Williams Braswell → into the present generation, tracing land, businesses, schools, churches, and civic institutions the families built across Manatee County.
